Web3 gaming, commonly called crypto gaming, has attracted significant attention from gaming enthusiasts, investors, and crypto aficionados. Crypto games, by incorporating elements of Web2 technology, act as a conduit between Web2 and Web3, facilitating a smoother transition for mainstream users into the upcoming gaming era. As the crypto gaming community envisioned, the future of Web3 gaming integrates aspects from poker, esports, and popular games like World of Warcraft, emphasizing competitive, skill-based games featuring open economies and cross-chain interoperability.
In alignment with these trends, MixMob is dedicated to developing the world's premier card strategy racing game on the Solana ecosystem, incorporating the aforementioned features. With a team of crypto experts boasting experience in renowned platforms such as Halo, Nintendo, FiFa, PokerStars, and more, the project consistently expands its ecosystem. It actively contributes to the creation of compelling new releases.
This month's review will explore various aspects, including tokenomics, the Racer 1 Game, and fundraising.
What is MixMob and the Racer 1 Game?
MixMob is a cryptocurrency gaming ecosystem that enables players to participate in competitive gameplay, vying for cryptocurrency rewards and reinvesting their earnings. This approach has led to a burgeoning participant base and provided advantages to token holders. The flagship game, Racer 1, synthesizes exhilarating racing experiences reminiscent of Mario Kart and strategic, card-based gameplay featuring resource management elements akin to Clash Royale.
At the core of MixMob are the principles of racing, raiding, and remixing. Enthusiasts of racing who seek acclaim and excitement dedicate themselves to refining their MixBots for a competitive edge in MixBot Racers or challenging opponents on the Surface. For those inclined towards strategy, MixMob offers the opportunity to augment MixBots through Surface raiding, acquiring power and valuable rewards. Moreover, the platform appeals to creative individuals through its Marketplace, allowing players to craft unique fashion and appearances for avatars and MixBots.
Gameplay of Racer 1
Racer 1 is currently in an incentivized open Beta phase, providing an opportunity for players, referred to as "Raiders," to test the game before its widespread public release. Players can participate in Free Play (PvE Free to Play) or Arenas (PvP Paid or Free to Play) game versions. What sets MixMob apart from other web3 games is that it doesn't require players to have a crypto wallet; they can sign up for the beta using a Google or Discord account and establish an in-game wallet for transactions.
As mentioned, the game is free to play, offering both PvE and PvP modes. The accessible PvP mode doesn't entail any payment, including for in-game NFT masks or SUD$. However, the paid PvP mode necessitates players to obtain SUD$ for entry into the arena. It's important to note that Racer 1 deviates from other games by not being NFT or token-gated, eliminating the need for SUD$ or a mask to access and enjoy the game. Upon registration, players can choose their card deck, each featuring specific abilities categorized under offensive, defensive, and remix. The strategic utilization of these cards during races distinguishes players who excel from their peers.
NFTs
In December 2021, MixMob minted 5,000 Gen0 masks. Each Mask was minted for 2 SOL and is exclusively available on Magic Eden. To ensure fairness, participants were limited to minting 1 Mask per wallet during the Presale and 2 Masks per wallet during the Public sale. Right now, there are 1,596 unique holders.
Gen0 Mask traits have the following traits:
Fundraising
The MixMob project features a team of seasoned industry professionals, including veteran gaming developers who have played integral roles in creating acclaimed games and gaming consoles such as Halo, Nintendo, FiFA, PokerStars, Disney, Battlefield, and Xbox.
In February 2022, MixMob achieved a successful funding round, securing $7 million. Defiance Capital led the round, with notable participants including Ascensive Assets, Not3lau Capital, Solana Ventures, Morningstar Ventures, and individual investors like Kieran Warwick from Illuvium, Loi Lui from Kyber, and Danish Chaudhry, the CEO and founder of FMFW.io.
Tokenomics of $MXM & SUD$, and Game Economy
MixMob operates with two distinct tokens: $MXM and SUD$ (pronounced SUDS). $MXM is the governance token, enabling users to manage the league, incentivize players, purchase premium items, engage in Turbo Arenas, and explore various DeFi methods to enhance earnings. SUD$ functions as the in-game currency, allowing players to earn winnings, acquire items, and engage in gameplay mechanics while playing the game.
Players who are not interested in playing the game can still participate in MixMob by holding these tokens for several reasons:
- Revenue Sharing: Earn a portion of the revenues generated by MixMob.
- Referral Rewards: Bring new players into your Arenas and earn SUD$ and MXM.
- Governance: Influence the future and regulations of the League, Turbo Arena, and Crews.
In a nutshell, the token economy operates in a way that encourages players to recruit others, resulting in augmented yields and rewards. Introducing new Turbo Arenas enhances this dynamic by offering a higher APY, motivating players to engage actively. As the player base expands and more Arenas come into play, there is heightened competition among Arena stakers to draw in additional participants. Furthermore, players aiming to establish their Turbo Arenas must stake and maintain MixMob assets, adding to the overall vibrancy and competitiveness of the ecosystem.
What’s Next for MixMob
In the upcoming months, the team will continue to test the incentivized beta version of the game via players, tournaments, and focus groups. Everyone is welcome to sign up via the website. In the future, MixMob wants to expand to a ten-player race, offer higher card complexity, utilize AI to produce more game content, go cross-chain, and create decentralized Turbo Arenas. Morningstar Ventures and MSV.GG looks forward to working with the MixMob team and to the game's public launch.
